Cairo: The Arab Republic of Egypt welcomed the Sultanate of Oman’s hosting of talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, and commended the Sultanate of Oman’s constructive, vital and continuous role in supporting political and peaceful solutions in light of the grave challenges facing the region and working to reduce political tensions.

In its statement, the Arab Republic of Egypt affirmed its full support for Oman’s sincere efforts and all efforts aimed at reaching political solutions through dialogue. This is an approach Egypt has long advocated, given its complete conviction that there are no military solutions to the crises raging in the region, and that policies of escalation and tension only further inflame the situation.

The Arab Republic of Egypt appreciates the cooperative approach demonstrated by both the United States and Iran to reach a political settlement through promoting dialogue and negotiation, thus enabling solutions to be reached that contribute to reducing tensions in the region.

It looks forward to the two parties reaching an agreement that addresses their concerns and ensures security and stability for the sisterly neighboring countries in the Arabian Gulf region. It hopes that these negotiations will usher in a new phase that will contribute to achieving calm and reducing tensions in the region.
