Muscat: Messi and Mbappe are the two undoubtfully big names of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. As of today, the two are considered the most decisive players in world football. Teammates at PSG, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe will meet tonight with a lot at stake.
Only one of the two can become world champion, although the World Cup final in Qatar could also decide more than just the collective trophy.
On an individual level, the Argentine and the Frenchman are battling it out to finish as the tournament’s top scorer. Messi has a slight advantage with five goals and three assists to the Frenchman’s five goals and two assists, the Spanish MARCA newspaper reported.
In other words, should neither of them score in the final, Messi would take the trophy for having provided one more assist than the French striker.
Both are also in the running for the Golden Ball at the World Cup in Qatar. They are the favourites to be named the best player of the tournament for their performances throughout.
However, in this fight, a surprise guest may appear. That alternative appears to be on the French side with the great performances of Antoine Griezmann.
The Atletico Madrid player was named MVP in the semi-final against Morocco and has become a serious contender to be named the best player of this World Cup.
It is more difficult to think of an Argentine player who could unseat the aforementioned, although it would not be crazy to think that if Julian Alvarez, who scored twice in the semi-finals, decides the final with a goal, he could win it.
