Oman Customs Foils Smuggling of Alcohol and Tobacco at Expatriate Worker Sites
Muscat: Oman Customs announced that the Compliance and Risk Assessment Department has carried out inspection campaigns targeting a number of expatriate labour sites, resulting in the seizure of large quantities of prohibited goods.
The operation led to the confiscation of more than 16,960 bottles and cans of alcoholic beverages, in addition to 4,482 cartons of assorted cigarettes and approximately 1,444 kilograms of tobacco derivatives.
Oman Customs affirmed that these measures fall within its ongoing efforts to combat smuggling, protect society from harmful substances, and enforce customs laws and regulations. The Authority emphasized the continuation of monitoring and inspection campaigns to ensure compliance and to safeguard public security and health.
