MTCIT Launches Digital Excellence Award in Government Sector

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) today launched the first edition of the Digital Excellence Award in the government sector.

The award forms as part of the ministry’s commitment to accelerate the pace of digital transition and enhance innovation in the government sector in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

It also seeks to upgrade the Sultanate of Oman’s ranking in the Global Competitiveness Index for e-Government Development by raising awareness about the concept of innovation and the culture of digital transition.

Eng. Said Hamoud Al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, said that the Digital Excellence Award embodies the ministry’s determination to utilize the latest technologies in government services, apply new standards of excellence in rendering government services and provide a model to be emulated by others.

The award is also aimed at rewarding outstanding entities operating in the field of digital transition, he added.

The Digital Proficiency Award falls in 4 digital transition categories classified as: Goverment institutions, initiatives, services and human resources.

The first category comprises “The Best Institution in Achieving Government Digital Transition” and “The Best Institution in Achieving Digital User Experience and Beneficiary Satisfaction”.

The second category has three sections: “The Best Integrated Digital Initiative for Digital Transition”, “The Best Initiative for Electronic Community Participation” and “The Best Initiative in Innovation and Utilization of Advanced Technologies”.

The third category includes “The Best Digital Government Service Provided to Beneficiaries” and “The Best Digital Government Service Provided to the Corporate Sector”.

The fourth category is dedicated to “The Best Team for E-Government Transition” and “The Best Employee Leading Digital Change”.
