Passenger Traffic Through Oman Airports Falls 6.7%, Muscat Down 7.5% by February

Muscat: The number of passengers traveling through Oman’s airports decreased by 6.7 percent to 2,535,246 passengers by the end of February 2025, compared to 2,717,835 passengers by the end of February 2024.

Preliminary data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that the number of passengers traveling through Muscat International Airport until the end of last February amounted to about 2,280,280 passengers, compared to 2,463,856 passengers during the same period in 2024, registering a decrease of 7.5 percent.

The total number of flights reached 15,133 flights, a decrease of 11 percent compared to 16,996 flights during the same period last year.

The data showed that Salalah Airport witnessed a 5.4 percent increase in the number of passengers until the end of February 2025, reaching 244,590 passengers, compared to 232,077 passengers during the same period in 2024.

Meanwhile, the total number of flights decreased by 8.1 percent, reaching 1,444 flights, compared to 1,572 flights during the same period last year. The number of flights at Sohar Airport decreased by 74.5 percent to 28 flights by the end of February, compared to 110 flights during the same period last year.

The total number of passengers also decreased by 98 percent to 226 passengers, compared to 11,410 passengers by the end of February 2024. Duqm Airport saw a 3.8 percent decrease in the number of flights by the end of February, recording 100 flights compared to 104 flights during the same period last year. The number of passengers decreased by 3.3 percent, reaching 10,150 passengers, compared to 10,492 passengers at the end of February last year.

Regarding the most active nationalities at Muscat International Airport, the Indian nationality topped the list with the highest number of passengers on departing and arriving flights through the airport, with a total of 146,418 passengers during February 2025 (75,510 passengers arriving and 70,908 passengers departing), followed by the Omani nationality with a total of 145,060 passengers (82,244 passengers arriving and 62,816 passengers departing), then the Pakistani nationality with a total of 47,781 passengers (24,876 passengers arriving and 22,905 passengers departing).
