Oman beat Saudi Arabia to reach semifinals of 25th Arabian Gulf Cup

Muscat: Oman beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 at Al Minaa Olympic Stadium in Basra, Iraq, on Thursday to qualify for the semi-finals of the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup.

With the win, Oman garnered seven points.

Two-time champions Oman were level 1-1 at half-time against Saudi Arabia, which had fielded a second-string team for the tournament.

However, an 84th minute goal from Harib Al Saadi sealed the match in Oman’s favour. Arshad Al Alawi had got the first goal in the 34th minute to put Red Warriors in lead but Saudis equalised minutes before the interval.

Iraq beat Yemen 5-0 to top Group A. Iraq and Oman had seen points each after end of group stage but Iraq edged Oman on goal difference after their big win over Yemen.
