Oman participates in Non-Aligned Movement meeting in Uganda

Kampala: The Sultanate of Oman participated today in the meeting of foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement countries, which was held in Kampala, Uganda in preparation for the Non-Aligned Summit that will be held on 19-20 January 2023 , with the participation of a number of foreign ministers of the movement’s member states.

Jessica Albo, Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, delivered a speech at the opening session in which she stressed the importance of coordination and solidarity among member states to protect their interests in light of the current global developments that require greater coordination and cooperation among them.

The meeting discussed a number of issues of common interest, most notably the continuation of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the call for an immediate halt to this aggression and allowing the entry of adequate humanitarian aid. The meeting also stressed the necessity of reaching a permanent and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution.

The delegation of the Sultanate of Oman to this meeting was headed by His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harithi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, with the participation of His Excellency Ambassador Khalid bin Suleiman Baomar, Head of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Muhammad bin Awad Al Hassan, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in New York.
