Oman Producer Price Index Jumps 32.7% as Manufacturing Costs Rise
Muscat: The Producer Price Index (PPI) in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 32.7% during the second quarter of 2026, compared with the corresponding quarter of 2025, according to data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The increase was driven by higher prices across the mining and quarrying, manufacturing, water and electricity sectors.
Prices in the mining and quarrying sector rose by 31%, mainly due to a 31.9% increase in crude oil and natural gas prices. Prices of stone and sand products increased by 0.5%, while prices of mineral ores declined by 14.3%.
The manufacturing sector recorded a 40.3% increase in producer prices, driven by a 55.3% rise in prices of other transportable goods.
Within this group, prices of refined petroleum products increased by 88.2%, while prices of chemical products rose by 21.4%.
Prices of metal products, machinery and equipment increased by 31.7%. Within the group, products made of iron, steel and aluminium recorded a 48.9% increase, while prices of power transformers, electrical distribution equipment and cables rose by 39.8%.
Prices of food, beverages and textiles increased by 2.8%, with footwear recording the highest increase at 6.7%, followed by woven fabrics at 2.8%.
Meanwhile, water prices increased by 4.4%, while electricity prices rose by 13% during the second quarter of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025.
