Omani Products Eye New Opportunities in Russian Market at World Food Moscow 2026

Omani Products Gain New Export Opportunities in Russia

Moscow:  Omani companies are exploring promising opportunities to expand the presence of national products in the Russian market through participation in the World Food Moscow 2026 exhibition.

Participation in international exhibitions provides Omani companies with opportunities to showcase the quality and competitiveness of national products, engage directly with importers, distributors and investors, and establish new trade and investment partnerships.

Ambassador Hamoud bin Salem Al Tuwaih, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation, said the Russian market offers promising opportunities for Omani products and for establishing new commercial partnerships.

In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), he said participation in specialised international exhibitions represents an important tool for introducing importers and distributors to Omani products, opening new export channels and supporting the diversification of non-oil export markets.

He noted that Oman’s participation in World Food Moscow 2026 carries economic and commercial significance given the exhibition’s position as a major international platform for the food sector and the opportunities it provides for direct interaction between companies, importers, distributors, retail chains and representatives of the food industry.

The 35th edition of the exhibition features more than 1,100 exhibitors from more than 30 countries and 60 Russian regions, providing participating Omani companies with opportunities to present their products, assess market demand and explore potential trade partnerships and export agreements.

Al Tuwaih explained that the importance of the Russian market extends beyond its domestic consumer base to its potential as a gateway to wider markets in Eurasia and Central Asia, allowing Omani companies to diversify their export destinations and reduce reliance on traditional markets.

He said this approach is consistent with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, particularly economic diversification, strengthening non-oil sectors, improving the competitiveness of national products and expanding the international reach of Omani companies.

The participation of 16 Omani companies reflects the diversity of national products and the growing interest among Omani businesses in accessing new international markets.

Al Tuwaih said direct participation in exhibitions enables companies to assess the commercial potential of their products, establish direct relationships with importers and distributors and gain a better understanding of consumer demand.

He added that participation also allows companies to examine market conditions, including pricing, packaging requirements and technical and health standards, helping them adapt their products to specific market needs.

The exhibition also provides opportunities for Omani small and medium enterprises to engage with importers, distributors and potential business partners who may be difficult to reach through conventional marketing channels.

Al Tuwaih praised the Omani companies participating in the exhibition, noting the diversity and quality of their products and their efforts to improve product development and competitiveness.

He stressed that building a sustainable presence in international markets requires continuous participation in specialised exhibitions, direct engagement with buyers and distributors, market research and ongoing development of products, packaging and marketing strategies.

Regarding the role of the Omani Embassy in Moscow, he said the mission supports Omani companies seeking to enter the Russian market within the framework of economic diplomacy and efforts to serve Oman’s commercial and investment interests.

He explained that the Embassy helps companies understand the characteristics of the Russian market, facilitates contacts with importers and distributors, supports bilateral meetings and contributes to building networks between business communities in Oman and Russia.

The Ambassador said the Embassy works with relevant authorities in Oman to support national companies seeking international expansion, promote Oman’s economic and investment potential and identify opportunities to increase trade and investment exchange between the two countries.

He added that the role of diplomatic missions increasingly includes economic and investment promotion, linking business communities and identifying trade and investment opportunities that support economic diversification and the expansion of national companies abroad.

Al Tuwaih expressed hope that the Omani participation in World Food Moscow would produce practical outcomes, including new export channels, contacts with importers, agents and distributors, and long-term commercial partnerships.

He noted that the exhibition also provides opportunities to explore expansion into Central Asian markets and other related markets, enabling Omani companies to develop wider distribution networks and diversify their customer base.

The Ambassador stressed that sustainable international market access requires a long-term process beginning with market research and understanding requirements, followed by building relationships with local partners, importers and distributors and establishing effective export and distribution channels.

He also highlighted opportunities to expand economic cooperation between Oman and Russia in areas including food security, food manufacturing, agriculture, storage, logistics and re-export.

He said Russia has significant capabilities in grain, food and agricultural production and extensive experience in agriculture and food manufacturing, while Oman offers a strategic location, modern ports, logistics infrastructure and investment opportunities in fisheries, food industries, storage and logistics.

These factors, he noted, create opportunities for greater economic integration between the two countries through partnerships extending beyond trade in goods to include production, processing, storage, distribution and re-export.

Al Tuwaih added that Oman’s geographical location, port network and logistics capabilities could support access to regional markets, while Russian production capabilities could provide opportunities for partnerships related to food security and supply chains.

He called on Omani companies to view participation in international exhibitions as part of a long-term strategy for establishing a presence in target markets and to follow up on contacts made during such events and develop them into sustainable business relationships.

He urged companies seeking to enter the Russian market to study market needs and requirements, make use of specialised exhibitions and establish direct relationships with importers and distributors while meeting applicable technical, health and commercial standards.

The Ambassador reaffirmed that the Omani Embassy in Russia will continue supporting national companies, connecting them with potential partners and introducing available trade and investment opportunities to further develop economic relations between Oman and Russia.

During his visit to World Food Moscow 2026, Al Tuwaih toured the booths of the Omani companies participating in the exhibition and reviewed the national products on display and the companies’ efforts to expand their presence in the Russian market and identify new export opportunities.
