Oman’s MoSD Celebrates World Autism Awareness Day

Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development, represented by the National Autism Center, celebrated today the “World Autism Spectrum Disorder Awareness Day”, which falls on the 2nd of April, at the center’s headquarters in the state of Seeb.

The ceremony witnessed many entertaining and singing segments, educational competitions, face painting, and storyteller segments, in which children of the National Center for Autism and children of integration in educational institutions participated.

It is noteworthy that the National Center for Autism aims to provide rehabilitative and therapeutic services, and model training programs for cases of autism spectrum disorder and their families, characterized by quality and comprehensiveness in an integrated rehabilitation and training environment that helps to develop their level of performance, in order to reach independence and achieve their integration into society during the different stages of life, in addition to providing programs internationally accredited training; To enhance and develop the skills of national cadres working in the field of autism spectrum disorder.

The center aims to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorder, the importance of diagnosis, early intervention, and comprehensive education, and to provide internationally accredited training programs for families that help them understand the development requirements of their children with autism spectrum disorder, participate in the preparation and implementation of rehabilitation plans, and follow a comprehensive approach. To meet the needs of cases of autism spectrum disorder by linking government, private and civil society institutions, in addition to supporting research partnerships related to autism spectrum disorder, and developing rehabilitation programs and codifying them in line with the Omani environment.
