Registration Opens for 4th “Tawasul” Short Film Award for Youth

Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth today announced the opening of registration for the fourth edition of the “Tawasul” Short Film Award for Youth.

The award targets Omani filmmakers and aims to support cinematic creativity and promote community dialogue through meaningful content.

This edition focuses on topics related to individual and societal issues, encouraging thoughtful discussion and engagement with diverse perspectives.

Hilal bin Saif Al Siyabi, Director General of Youth, said the award continues to attract young talents and develop their skills in filmmaking, noting its role in strengthening the presence of Omani creatives in this field.

He added that participation and the quality of submissions have increased in recent editions, reflecting growing interest among youth in producing purposeful cinematic works.

The award is open to various short film formats, including fiction, documentary, animation and digital films, with participation limited to Omani nationals.

Submitted films must be produced between 2025 and 2026, have a duration ranging from one to 45 minutes, and must not have been previously published or submitted to earlier editions.

The Ministry noted that entries should adhere to ethical standards and avoid inappropriate content, while limiting the use of artificial intelligence to preserve originality.

The deadline for submissions is 1 October 2026 through the Ministry’s official website.
