Royal Pardons by His Majesty Sultan Haitham Free Over 8,000 Inmates Since 2020

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said has consistently established the values ​​of mercy and tolerance through a royal pardon that is renewed from time to time.

Over the course of more than five years, the royal pardon included thousands of inmates with a noble humanitarian touch. The number of those included in the pardon since His Majesty assumed power on January 11, 2020, until September 2025 reached (8,326) inmates.

The number of inmates who were honored with the special royal pardon from 2020 to date, as follows:

2020:

• February 20: Pardon for 282 inmates, including 123 foreigners

• April 8: Pardon for 599 prisoners, including 336 foreigners

• July 28: Pardon for 433 inmates, including 217 foreigners

• November 17: Pardon for 390 inmates, including 150 foreigners

Total: 1,704 inmates

2021 :

• January 10: Pardon for 285 inmates, including 118 foreigners

• May 11: Pardon for 460 inmates, including 161 foreigners

• July 18: Pardon for 345 inmates, including 131 foreigners

• October 18: Pardon for 328 inmates, including 107 foreigners

• November 17: Pardon for 252 inmates, including 84 foreigners

Total: 1,670 inmates

2022 AD:

• January 10: Pardon for 229 inmates, including 70 foreigners

• May 1: Pardon for 304 inmates, including 108 foreigners

• July 6: Pardon for 308 prisoners, including 119 foreigners

• October 8: Pardon for 325 prisoners, including 141 foreigners.

• November 17: Pardon for 175 prisoners, including 65 foreigners.

Total: 1,341 inmates

2023:

• January 10: Pardon for 121 inmates, including 57 foreign inmates.

• April 20: Pardon for 198 inmates, including 89 foreign inmates.

• June 27: Pardon for 217 inmates, including 101 foreign inmates.

• October 28: Pardon for 162 inmates, including 94 foreign inmates

• November 16, 166 inmates pardoned.

Total: 864 inmates

2024:

• January 11: Pardon for 207 inmates.

• April 9: Pardon for 154 inmates.

• June 16, 169 inmates pardoned.

September 16, 175 inmates pardoned

November 17, 174 inmates pardoned

Total: 879 inmates

2025:

* January 11: 305 inmates pardoned.

* March 29: 577 inmates pardoned.

* June 5: 645 inmates pardoned.

* September 6: 341 inmates pardoned.

Total: 1,868 inmates

It is noteworthy that 5 occasions coincided with the royal pardon, 3 of which were determined according to the Hijri calendar, and 2 according to the Gregorian calendar, namely:

• Eid al-Fitr (the first of Shawwal every Hijri year)

• Eid al-Adha (the tenth of Dhu al-Hijjah every Hijri year)

• The anniversary of the birth of the Prophet (12 Rabi’ al-Awwal of every Hijri year)

• Anniversary of assuming power (January 11 of every Gregorian year)

• National Day (November 20 of every Gregorian year)
