Sultan Qaboos University Secures Third Position in 2025 Arab Rankings
Muscat: Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) achieved a notable academic milestone after securing third place in the 2025 Arab University Rankings, issued by the Association of Arab Universities (AArU), headquartered in Amman, Jordan, an affiliate of the League of Arab States. The ranking was prepared in cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils.
The Arab University Rankings are distinguished by an objective evaluation methodology based on automated data processing and classification without human intervention, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and credibility. The assessment relies on four main pillars: quality of education and learning, scientific research productivity, creativity and innovation, and international and local cooperation and community service.
This edition marks the third cycle of the ranking and represents Sultan Qaboos University’s first participation. The university ranked third among 236 Arab universities that met the rigorous classification criteria, representing 20 Arab countries. This achievement highlights SQU’s strong academic and research standing and its swift integration into regional frameworks of excellence.
The ranking further consolidates Sultan Qaboos University’s position as a leading educational and research institution in the Arab world. It reflects the university’s continued commitment to academic excellence, scientific research, and innovation, as well as its role in supporting the transition toward a knowledge-based economy.
This achievement aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, particularly in strengthening the national research and innovation ecosystem, expanding regional and international partnerships, and building highly qualified graduates and researchers capable of contributing effectively to sustainable development.
