Ahmedabad to host Centenary Commonwealth Games in 2030

The Indian city of Ahmedabad will stage the 2030 multi-sport Commonwealth Games 100 years after the inaugural edition was held in Hamilton, Canada, it was confirmed on Wednesday. Ahmedabad won approval from the Commonwealth Sport membership at the 2025 General Assembly in Glasgow.

The city, located in the western state of Gujarat, was officially ratified by the 74 Commonwealth member nations after being recommended last month by Commonwealth Sport’s evaluation committee ahead of Abuja, Nigeria.

The 2030 Games will also feature 15 to 17 sports, marking an increase from the 10 scheduled for next year’s version in Glasgow. India had last year submitted a formal letter of intent to the International Olympic Committee to host the 2036 Summer Olympics.
