Oman participates in 24th Indian Ocean Rim Association meeting

Dhaka: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, participated in the 24th meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Association of Countries Rim of the Indian Ocean, which is being held in Bangladesh today and will last for 3 days.

The Ministry is represented at the meeting by Dr. Dawood bin Suleiman Al Yahyai, ​​Director General of Fisheries Research, and Director of the Fish Support Unit of the Association.

The meeting will discuss various topics related to the Association’s fields of work, namely fisheries, maritime safety and security, trade and investment, disaster risk management, technology and science, tourism and cultural exchange, and the blue economy.

It is worth noting that the Association of Countries Bordering the Indian Ocean was established on March 7, 1997, and the Sultanate of Oman is one of the founding countries of this association since its inception. The association currently includes 23 member states and 9 countries as dialogue partners. The Sultanate also hosts the fish support unit of the association.
